Just as power historically heads west, so does revolution. And after the riots in England, it was just a matter of time before it began here in America.
The time has come.
And to astrologers this is not a surprise.
I’ve been waiting for this to happen for years.
And I knew this because since late 2008, Uranus and Saturn have been in opposition, while squaring off to Pluto.
Uranus is the sign of the young, the sign of new ideas, of rebellion, of uprising. Saturn, in turn, is about older power, structure, the standard way of doing things. And when these planets are in opposition, these two forces will clash in a major way. Add to this Pluto, the planet of power and transformation, and this opposition now has the necessary ingredient for transforming things on a permanent basis.
The last time these two planets were in opposition was during another period of radical upheaval, 1967.
Look at the Arab Spring, best expressed in the uprising at Tahrir Square in Egypt, which, incidentally, is what the Occupy Wall Street protest is modeling their own protests on. Thousands of young, educated people had been pushed to the brink by a ruling class that provided next to nothing for them. It was an old power structure that had to fall, and the time was nigh.
And so it is here as well. The expanding unemployment, the vast and ever growing wealth disparity, the clear and present truth that our politicians have been bought is now nakedly apparent, and the youth have risen up.
Only now it’s not just the youth. Teacher’s unions, labor unions, and homeless advocates are all getting involved. The protests are spreading around the country now.
At first the mainstream media was dismissive. The New York Times was critical, while Fox News and other outlets didn’t even cover it at all. But then the police, representing Saturn, went a little crazy with their pepper spray. Video was taken. And then the mainstream media couldn’t ignore it any longer.
And then the police went and did it all over again when they allowed the protesters onto the Brooklyn Bridge, then arrested the group for coming onto the bridge. If there is a better example of entrapment, then I can’t think of it.
The irony is that the police are ending up being amazing recruiters for a protest that is building traction across the country. Occupy Wall Street calculates that they will be in over 1,000 cities by the end of the month, and similar protest are taking place across the world.
Don’t be surprised when this movement continues to hold on and actually changes things. All the planetary ingredients are there.
