Why Bill Murray Prefers to Use an Answering Machine

If you want Bill Murray in your film, you don’t call his agent, manager or publicist.

Because he doesn’t have any of those.

He has an answering machine and an 800 number.

So you call and leave a message and if you get lucky and he feels like listening to his messages then he’ll hear it (Bill often goes weeks without checking). And if you’re even luckier, maybe he’ll call you back.

Sofia Coppola famously spent seven months and hundreds of phone calls just to get Bill to look at the “Lost in Translation” script.

Eleven years ago Murray fired his agents, and according to a Sunday Times article, explained, “I said I didn’t ever want to speak to them again, and I never did. I like to cut my own lawn now. I don’t need a landscaper.”

Since then Murray has relied strictly on his instincts and intuition in choosing projects. This is exactly how someone whose Mars is in Scorpio would act.

Mars is the planet that rules over action. Scorpio is a highly sensitive, secretive and emotional sign. This would make Murray a man who does things based on feeling.

It would also explain Murray’s unexpected and amazing public behavior of recent past.
